New Exeter studio offers yoga to kids

Exeter 11-year-old named Grand Champion at equestrian competition

EXETER - Laine Rooney, 11, of Exeter, was named the Grand Champion of her division at the 2009 New Hampshire Equitation and Hunter Finals Sept. 18 to 20 in Swanzey.

Rooney, a sixth-grade student at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham, rode Shauna Moore’s horse named Independence to the championship in the Novice Equitation and Short Stirrup Division, in which she was judged on her form on the horse as well as her ability navigating a course of 18” jumps on the horse.

Rooney received the highest number of points in her division and took home over $500 in prizes. The young rider is coached by Meredith Stimson of Yorkfield Farm in Kensington.
